The celebration dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day was held at the Polyus Arena
On February 24, a celebration dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day was held at the Polyus Arena for the children from the Polyus hockey club and their parents.
First, a demonstration training session and initiation of new players into hockey players took place on the big ice. Sergey Zhuravlev, vice president of the gold mining company Polyus, which owns the Polyus Arena, gave a welcoming speech to the young athletes and their mentors.
"It's great to see how hard you work during training, how you love sports, love hockey and your coaches. Our company, as you know, mines gold. I hope that you will also mine it in sports arenas. I wish you success!" Zhuravlev said.
He presented gifts to the children, and after the official part, he talked to the coaches and parents and answered questions about the development of the club.
"Our company supports the club's desire to participate in competitions and apply for various tournaments," Zhuravlev noted.
Let us recall that HC Polyus is constantly recruiting children of different ages, including kids from 3 years old who do not have skating skills.
The festive evening ended with a game of the older team and tea.
